Northern Haiku
Northern Haiku short film takes you on a poetic journey through Finnish nature by combining ethereal imagery one would think was hand-painted with an emotional soundscape. Haiku is a category of Japanese poetry known for its brevity and structure.
Northern Haiku stems from a collection of poems inspired by Finnish nature. The visuals lean strongly on an AI-enhanced hand-painted-style, inspired by Finnish artists like Edefelt, Gallen-Kallela and Järnefelt.

There are ten unique haikus written by Riitta Rossilahti, Satu Jäske, Kiti Saarinen and Rea Lehtonen. Some of the haikus are made for this project. Each haiku has a different artistic theme. David Rogers gives a final touch and brings perfect emotion as the narrator.

Story behind
The Northern Haiku project has been under development for 3 years. My idea was to create a short film using AI-enhanced artistic scenery. I studied the methods intensively and wanted to use AI. Transfusion. The idea for incorporating the haikus came organically from exploring the nature theme. Haikus have historically been used to describe nature and I wanted to marry the written word with visual and auditory perception.
